Burn, Barbershop. Burn.

Perfume names are - at best - a subtle suggestion of what the scent inside has to offer, but in general the name is just another marketing tool. It is therefore really refreshing to find a perfume house that labels its bottles in a does exactly what it says on the tin manner with a humourous twist.
Meet Burning Barbershop by D.S. & Durga:

My visualisation of Burning Barbershop by D.S. & Durga

If you ever wondered how it would smell if you set fire to the old school barbershop around the corner, now you have the answer. BB is a spearmint shaving cream brûlée that has been torched too long. And that is a good thing. A very good thing. Modern, unique, urban, old fashioned, clever. Verging on the masculine side, but getting softer after a few hours. Given notes are spearmint, lime, spruce and lavender followed by rose, vanilla, burnt oil and hay. Brilliant.

How and where to wear:
This separates the men from the boys, and that goes for all genders,  make sure you have the confidence to pull it off.

  1. Must learn more about this line. Thanks for the heads-up. A literal perfume name is extremely helpful!

    Great image, as ever.

    1. Roullier White now has the range, Tara. We need to make an outing to the shop again soon.

  2. That sounds mad as a box of frogs, and none the worse for it. There is also some crossover between firemen's and barbershop poles, come to think of it...Also continuing the red theme?

    1. it's a surprisingly unmad (!) scent. I kept playing around with the amount of red in the visual - but in the end I went back to the first version. May be I just needed the warmth...

  3. Before reading, just glancing at the picture, I thought that you found a new and interesting perfume-related use for the Tileapp :)

Names play a certain role in my perception of perfumes. For some reason this brand's name has never appealed to me so I tend to miss their perfumes even when I come across this line somewhere at a store. But if I see this one, I'll give it a try just out of curiosity.

    1. Hahaha, Undina.
I like the name of the scents, but not the brand's. That's rather unappealing and more suitable for a lawyers firm.

  4. Testing to see if I can comment here. Finally. Not a huge fan of what I have tried from this perfume house. The dry down isthe (dry)downfall. However I will give this a go as we actually have them in Vienna! Bussi CQ xxx Guess I can only comment anon. Grrrrr.

    1. Sorry for comment fails, and I'm very grateful that you tried. I do actually liked most of their offerings, and Mael smells great in them too.. :) Bussi, Kussi and see you soon.
